• "Room darkening" vs. "blackout." These terms are not interchangeable. Room-darkening curtains block 60–80% of light — enough for a living room, not enough for sleep. If light control matters, always choose curtains specifically labeled "blackout" with triple-weave or foam-backed construction.
• Ignoring the panel count. Many budget listings show a low price for a single panel, not a pair. Two panels are standard for most windows (52" each covers a 48" window with slight overlap). Always check whether the listing is per-panel or per-pair before comparing prices.
